As it's St. Patrick's Day, I have been inspired to create baked goods using Irish stout.
Starting with spiced stout buns. They are similar to hot cross buns but with an added richness
Then who can resist ginger stout cake? Taking inspiration from a glass of the black stuff, the sponge is dark, deep and dense and the light mascarpone frosting sits delicately on top.
Of course some might just prefer to have a long, cool glass of stout to drink. This soda bread will make a fine companion, especially served warm with creamy butter. I have to say I really love making soda bread. It’s quick, needs no proving and uses very few ingredients but you do have to make it by hand to ensure you mix it with a light touch.
