Hoping that everyone has had a lovely Christmas and that 2019 is full of good things – happiness, peace, health and contentment.
I’m not a big fan of making resolutions as I’m prone to fail but I do think participating in Veganuary is such a good idea, if you have an interest in a plant based diet be it for a love of animals, concern for the environment or for health benefits. A month is not a long time, but substantial enough to fully immerse you in a new diet where you can explore new flavours and feel the benefits to health, and of course, every step helps the environment and animal welfare.
It’s so much easier to enjoy a plant based diet now thanks to the wide range of vegan food in supermarkets, most of restaurants offer vegan options and you can find so many great recipes on line or in cookery books. Sometimes you might not feel like eating processed food but in the middle of a busy week you might have the time or inclination to make something new.
So that’s where Good Souls would like to help. We might not be at the café anymore but that doesn’t mean we aren’t cooking. As well as making cakes, breads and other sweet bakes to order we will also be offering savoury goodies. Stews, soups, calzone and farinata are just some of the dishes that will be available. And this is not just for Veganuary but all year round. So if you want some tasty vegan suppers just take a look at our menu and see what’s on offer.
For those experimenting with veganism Good Souls hope to make life a little easier. And for the local plant based community, we hope the opportunity to take home some globally inspired, vegan, home cooked dishes will ease those days when there’s not much spare time for standing over a hot stove.
Other plans for Good Souls in 2019 include more markets, supper clubs plus pop-ups. Alongside this we hope to run a variety of plant based cookery classes, including mindful cooking (ditch the stresses of life by immersing yourself in flavours, aromas and textures) plus classes for those interested in cooking vegan dishes, either for themselves or vegan family members.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Good Souls Bakery through its own transition into veganism and for giving us such love and great feedback.
